When Dreams Come True

How many of us have waited  for the “Admitted into Hogwarts” all our lives and shed tears over it? How many of us have conspired to build the flying car and learn potions? How many of us have secretly Avada-Kedavra-d  the annoying muggles and made comebacks with references they did not get?

All of us – and EVERY SINGLE POTTERHEAD.

We Potterheads, are a global trend. From savage comebacks, mumbled spells, distinct merchandise , DVDs and the EVER LOVED BOOKS, we are practically a close knit tribe of our own, known to be as brave and loyal as the Gryffindor, and as magnificent, even terribly so as the Slytherins. We are known for our Ravenclaw brains and Hufflepuff amity. Unified at our hearts and souls we CRAVE opportunities to live the cloak and wand lives of magic.

And this dream became true for us at Mumbai, India when the EFG -Every Flavored Geek – stores bought us all together in the Great Hall at Todi Mills, Lower Parel.

Entering in felt like Harry coming to the Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade for the first time where witches, wizards all came together as the magical unit of the population. Cloaks whooshed around and wands and cauldrons of drinks and potions clinked around. Shoes scuffled around as people were sorted into their houses. No Sorting Hat unfortunately but our very own version of Madam Trelawney and Professor McGonagall certainly made up for it, along with our house badges given.

We found and formed our own Sean, Dean, Cho, Padma and Parvati there along with the Ron and Hermoine-s already accompanying us. Readied with the first year books, we were absolutely ready to shed our Muggle skin and rock the party.

Various events like the debates upon political topics –  whether or not ghosts and portraits should be given Human Rights, Quizes and Horcrux hunting were held and judged by celebrities like the famous teen poet and you tuber – Aranya Johar. Cosplay competitions were a hit with the Wizards finally adorning their robes and dressing up as their favourite characters, living their dreams and having the time of their lives. Winners were awarded with wands special notebooks, and exciting merchandise with extra house points and a lot of applause.

Photography spots were open to the witches and wizards – like the 9 and 3 quarters platform, posters for the most wanted wizard, and Azkaban tickets to show off and keep as memoirs.

Ollivanders , Borkin and Burkes, and Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes set up their own stalls selling the merchandise to us with the Three Broomsticks, the Hog’s head, Honeydukes and Madam Puddifoot’s all coming together to please us tremendously with their food and drinks.

The event walked at a leisurely pace with a homey feeling all around into the evening. Saying goodbye, had indeed become a bad art of heartbreak but over the course of seven books and eight movies, we’ve seen friends turned against each other, hearts broken, and lives taken far too soon, so by now, we should be experts at this whole sadness thing. As Luna said –

Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.

We know we shall always remember this because even after all this time?

ALWAYS.
